[14:46:29] today i am working on the new mapserver, its cuurrently a combination of django to have a nice webfrontend and simple url routing and a call to the navit_binfile_extractor from metalstrolch [14:56:12] i already imported the regions from geofabrik so we dont need to define those our selfs [14:58:41] django makes it quite easy to load data into the "project". Its json, so i created a generator for the "fixture" [15:00:54] as of now i haven't implemented much, but from my plan https://wiki.navit-project.org/index.php/Mapserver_rewrite i already implemented /api/v2/download/area/id/:id/ [15:21:12] right now I am trying to understand the output of a ML model [15:22:33] ML is complicated indeed :D [15:35:54] my next task is to figure out a way to get a filesize (probably by extending the navit_binfile_extractor) and see how to get this production ready as well as probably add caches for more performance [15:36:22] but the last thing can be solved later [15:42:26] But unfortunately my biggest problem will be to process the planet.osm.pbf into planet.bin at a constant rate [15:58:32] you mean that it takes too long? [15:59:13] yep, i remember that it tool ~4-5days on my pc with nvme ssd and ryzen 2600 CPU [15:59:13] *** Joins: millesimus (~millesimu@2a02:c207:3006:1739::1) [16:03:18] probably we can improve it by splitting everything up into multiple maptool runs, for example by splitting the world into 16 pices and recombining them later on [19:26:13] does it run single core? [19:28:38] maptool, yes, mostly. It has some threads within the mix. And also runs heavily staged (in steps). Until now i couldn't figure out why it takes so much time in the first place, probably to save on ram and cpu in the expense of time [19:42:16] could make sense [19:42:30] any more idea about shifting to librechat? [19:48:42] actually i hevent done much thought on it. from what i see are are only 10 users within irc left. And at minimum 3 are bots, and 2 (kazer and I) are on irc bouncers, so only genesis, Celelibi, millesimus, staceee and you are left [19:56:15] too soon to change of server, the history of this mess is not very clear for me [19:59:09] here is the "main" doc from the old freenode staff: https://gist.github.com/joepie91/df80d8d36cd9d1bde46ba018af497409 and the new owner has posted a statement here: https://freenode.net/news/freenode-is-foss
