Generally it makes it easier to use the maps directory but as said it's not strictly needed. Are you sure that you have configured the map in the enabled mapset with the right path to? [03:12:02] And the GPS should be good as long as it spits out serial GPS data [04:51:52] *** Joins: xenos1984 (~xenos1984@2001:bb8:2002:200:6651:6ff:fe53:a120) [04:51:52] *** ChanServ sets mode: +v xenos1984 [14:04:11] *** Quits: xenos1984 (~xenos1984@2001:bb8:2002:200:6651:6ff:fe53:a120) (Quit: Leaving.) [21:59:52] hi DuncanDo_ [21:59:56] hey [22:00:17] what's the folder location? [22:00:18] jkoan replied to your message earlier but it looks like it was after you disconnected :) [22:00:24] yea :) [22:00:59] I just installed navit on windows yesterday for the first time... [22:01:04] I'm used to using it on linux [22:01:34] kazer, what the location for the folder? [22:01:39] fyi we have irc logs available if you ever need to check if something happened while you were disconnected : http://irclogs.navit-project.org/ [22:01:46] ah ok [22:01:47] thanks [22:02:08] so usually the easiest way is to put your maps into navit [22:02:13] 's map folder [22:02:21] you should have a .xml and a .bin file there [22:02:35] it doesn't show on my computer.. [22:02:45] if you have both files, the default navit.xml should load them [22:02:54] I used "Ultrasearch" to look for something like that.. [22:02:54] the folder doesn't show, or the maps don't load in navit? [22:02:59] both [22:03:15] ok. where is your navit.xml ? [22:03:40] C:\Program Files (x86)\Navit\navit.xml [22:03:52] ok. what's in C:\Program Files (x86)\Navit\ ? [22:04:27] bin, data, icons, lib, local, share. and a few other xml files [22:04:44] there is no map or *.bin file [22:04:50] *map folder [22:05:06] ok [22:05:08] I downloaded one but it won't load [22:05:16] in your navit.xml file, do you have this block ? [22:05:19] https://github.com/navit-gps/navit/blob/trunk/navit/navit_shipped.xml#L413-L415 [22:06:11] I don't think so [22:06:16] just search for that string [22:06:20] *searched [22:07:06] so what mapsets do you have in your navit.xml ? [22:07:59] map type="binfile" data="$NAVIT_SHAREDIR/maps/*.bin"/> (that's the one I edited) [22:08:25] it's enabled [22:08:29] ok so if you create a maps folder in the folder where you have your navit.xml file and put your .bin file there it should work [22:08:40] I tried that [22:08:42] let me try again [22:08:53] that folder should have been created for you, it's probably an issue with the win32 package we'll have a look [22:09:01] is it map or maps? [22:09:48] maps, as per your 'data' section [22:10:23] not showing [22:10:29] would you mind creating a ticket there so that we can fix the package btw ? https://github.com/navit-gps/navit/issues [22:10:38] i have to go soon and i want to make sure we fix it [22:10:44] ok.. [22:11:05] also can you share your navit.xml file? pastebin is a good place [22:11:52] https://pastebin.com/jdmwPuEq [22:13:19] ok, line 411 shows that this should work. what's the filename of your map ? [22:13:48] osm_bbox_-74.4,41.4,-68.9,43.0.bin [22:14:32] ok: just created a ticket.. [22:14:40] really odd. I have to go, but i'll test this in a VM once i'll be back. If you hang out here, i'll ping you with the results [22:14:49] thanks for the ticket! [22:14:53] sure [22:14:54] tc [22:15:23] If I'm not here I'll be back for the results.. [22:15:38] perfect [22:15:42] afk
