[00:51:41] Specifically, is the automated installer creating a full image to work on the RPi, as in: would the pi be dedicated solely to using navit and no other purpose? I will look into it in the coming weeks. For your problem about the main thread. Mvglasow already worked on a multithreaded Navit. There's a issue open where he also published this progress which he paused as of now [08:39:50] [discord] Hi, [08:39:51] [discord] The map is indeed loaded by Navit and shows in the maps section, but still nothing is displayed [09:05:54] [discord] Than you need to fix the layout includes or copy the content into Navit.xml [09:36:38] [discord] you mean the map ? but its a bin file, how can i do that ? [09:59:47] [discord] No, you said that on the console you get a warning/error that layout.xml couldn't be loaded, this needs to be fixed. The layout is how the map is displayed on screen. When the layout couldn't be loaded it can't display the map at all. [11:34:49] [discord] Oh, right. This is all default configuration tho, idk how those files should look like / be found [11:35:31] [discord] What could have gone wrong ? I installed navit through Ubuntu's package manager, maybe its not up to date [11:37:56] [discord] was able to redrive a route I did last year earlier this month, the difference being `route_pref="2200"`. It no longer gave "merge onto the highway" instructions at random on-ramps (but I'm just following the highway) so that's a great setting. [11:37:57] [discord] [11:37:58] [discord] Still got the "no route description when using waypoints" bug, I think whether it triggers has something to do with at least one of the segments being further than some bounding box around the start/destination/waypoint (not sure _what_ exactly). [11:37:59] [discord] [11:38:01] [discord] I also seem to recall there being a setting somewhere to basically say "if the corner is less than x degrees, ignore it" but now I can't find it. Was that ever a thing and if yes, what was it called? It's going off on random traffic islands and I suspect I can suppress it with just a few degrees extra [15:33:23] [discord] Yes, the Debian/Ubuntu package is missing those files. I will show you where to get them soon [15:34:32] [discord] perfect, thank you ! do it [15:34:35] [discord] perfect, thank you ! [15:35:23] [discord] Do you have an open issue for this? Have you recorded the vehicle log (e.g. gpx)? [15:39:18] [discord] @jkoan that's actually very interesting. I'll try to merge that into my branch and see where I get with it. [15:40:09] [discord] I originally had search and POI search in a different thread as to not lock the UI up [15:40:20] [discord] https://github.com/navit-gps/navit/tree/trunk/navit here you will find navit_layout_*.xml, you can download individual files with the "raw" button. Those files should be within the same directory as navit.xml. Probably you need to adjust the xi_include path otherwise [15:41:01] [discord] But as soon as navigation starts I got segfaults because of the binfile handler [15:52:30] [discord] I will try that thanks [15:53:00] [discord] just be sure that you are still able to create a PR with just your things, because Multithreading should be its own PR [15:53:28] [discord] Is started work on it in a clean branch [16:32:24] [discord] no there's no issue (yet) I think, and I don't have vehicle log. but depending on which you mean (I assume the no-route-description one?) I can try to find a less privacy-invading one (shouldn't be too hard because I know the route, I just don't want my actual house location on the internet) [18:33:02] anyone on the channel? [18:35:18] still hoping someone can point a newb in the right direction here: Specifically, is the automated installer creating a full image to work on the RPi, as in: would the pi be dedicated solely to using navit and no other purpose? [19:03:31] *** Quits: web-53 (~web-53@freenode-khk.vg4.vgfekv.IP) (Quit: Page closed) [19:07:31] [discord] A pi can be easily reconfigured anyway, so it would be ok. You are interesting me tho, I thought the only option was to install rasbian and then install navit on it... Can you tell me more about this automated thingy ? [19:19:20] [discord] Adding thz layout files did make the map appear, thank you ! [20:13:36] [discord] Nice to here that :) have fun and feel free to ask at any time :) [20:19:11] [discord] web-53: I don't know which automated installer you are referring to, but the easiest way is probably to use raspberry pi is and install navit from apt. This won't give you the most recent version but still a functional navit except from an issue with the layout files which you would need to download manually. This way you could configure the pi to be whatever you want, ether a dedicated navigation system or a system which other app [20:29:46] [discord] thats what i was planning to do too [21:39:30] [discord] every thing se to be in working order, Except for some choppiness when panning around the map. I havnt tried the navigation yet as i havnt recieved the final hardware i'll be using navit on yet. I did however notice that i have do not have any button / overlay at all, just the map. I thought that these were what the layouts were for but its apparently not. Is there more extra files i need to download ?
